Songwriters “In the Round”: Saturday, April 13th, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.

Laddie Ray Melvin, Lyle Morse and Cheryl Branz share the stage for an evening of original songs and the stories behind them. Presented “in the round”, the artist will take turns talking about and performing their songs.

“Laddie Ray Melvin’s songs are like a well-worn heirloom quilt, woven together from threads of traditional Americana, country, blues and a bit of Dylan-esque folk rock. His voice is weathered and rich, and his songs are dusty landscapes of life experience written from the perspective of a mature soul. His performances are captivating like hearing old ghost stories late at night around the crackling campfire.” ~ Get Out! North Idaho Magazine.“

“Born and raised by the Columbia River, the stark beauty of the land around him found its way into his music. The sweet grit of his expressive baritone and the rich imagery of his lyrics have a genuine and immediate impact on his listeners. There’s raw tenderness and strength in Laddie Ray’s style that seems uniquely masculine, yet universally human.” ~ Marilyn O’Malley, Victory Review … (read more about Laddie Ray here).

“No fooling around here … Lonesome Lyle Morse is one SERIOUS Inland Empire bluesman”. ~ The Local Planet, Spokane, WA entertainment weekly.

“Top-shelf live acoustic music”. ~ The Inlander, Spokane, WA entertainment weekly.

“Lyle is awesome! A wonderful style and voice all his own. I always enjoy Lyle’s performances. I’m never disappointed. As much as I might like to give someone a hard time, just for fun, I just can’t seem to muster that with Lyle. Have you ever met someone who is so gentle and kind you find yourself becoming more gentle and kind? That’s Lyle!”. ~ Len Volpe, Owner Replay Music, Spokane, WA … (read more about Lyle here).

Cheryl Branz performs throughout the region armed with her acoustic guitar, versatile voice and engaging personality. Once described as “Rachel Ray with a guitar” Cheryl is known for songs that range from the heartfelt to the hilarious.

“Perched on a stool, Cheryl Branz strums her guitar, clearly meeting the notes in song. Her original songs easily touch the nerves of her audience as she sings about the places we’ve all been physically and emotionally like, “Waiting On A Miracle”, “I Judge Myself”, “Blindsided” and “The Elephant Song” where a large elephant in her room makes moving about difficult. On the album (Disappear), Branz’s voice is clear and strong, the tunes are highly melodic and and her lyrics range from intensely personal on the title track and “I Judge Myself” to rather silly on “Flip Flops,” in which she describes said footwear as “an island vacation for my feet”. ~ The Spokesman Review … (read more about Cheryl here).

Mark Stuart: Sunday, May 19th, 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

After many years on the Americana/Folk circuit, Stuart has cultivated a very rounded performance. His show consists of storytelling, flashy guitar “chops”, and songs that draw from his rock, blues, country, and folk music roots.

Mostly, this artist from Tennessee has toured solo or in a notable duo with his wife (“Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart”). There were stints along the way as a sideman, through (Steve Forbert, Freddy Fender, Steve Earle and Joan Baez). If placed on the bill with a contemporary artist he is usually asked to play guitar on their portion of the show. Just ask Jason Ringenberg or Ray Wylie Hubbard … (read more about Mark here).

Jonathan Nicholson: Saturday, September 14, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.

Since the year 2000, Jonathan Nicholson has been known as an acoustic guitar instrumentalist whose music is introspective, soothing and evocative in its colorful imagery. Incorporating the sounds of other instruments, like the piano and the harp, with brilliant fretwork, touches of harmonics and fantastic voicing he has created a truly personal and signature style. His music has been sold in 7 countries to date, and has been featured in documentaries, relaxation videos and other media … (read more about Jonathan here).

“Nicholson could very easily be signed by Windham Hill some day. His solo guitar work is superbly executed, melodic, and haunting, laden with emotion.”
~ The Inlander

“Jonathan’s music is profound and soothing, a balm for the soul. His professional presentation and demeanor are above reproach and he reads a room very well. When Jonathan begins to play, it is as if you put down a heavy load that you didn’t even realize you were carrying. His music speaks to my heart and calms my spirit. Jonathan is a rare player who could realistically be termed a master of his art.”
~ Luther’s Table
